Building Use At First Baptist

Many organizations use the facilities at First Baptist Church for events and group meetings. Our sanctuary is especially known for it's great acoustics and was blessed by the presence of Tibetan monks who used that room to record their chants.

If you would like to use these facilities the church building is available to individuals and groups whose purpose is consistent with the church's mission and as the church calendar permits. The Board of Trustees of First Baptist, has provided the following guidance for individuals and groups using or requesting use of the church building. Regularly occurring and occasional First Baptist Church events, activities and programs take precedence in scheduling use of facilities.

A fee and deposit will normally be required from non-church individuals and groups for use of church facilities. This is to help defray maintenance and other costs. Fees are due upon acceptance of the request. Fees for weddings are due no less than two weeks prior to the event.

Smoking is prohibited within the church building. Alcoholic beverages may not be served at weddings, funerals, and other receptions offering refreshments. Non-church individuals and groups may not use the gas stoves and ovens in the kitchen. The maximum number of people in the Sanctuary and Community Room may not exceed the limits set by current Ithaca Fire Department regulations.

Individuals and groups using the church facilities are responsible for cleaning up afterward and leaving the facility in the condition in which they found it. If needed, they may arrange with church staff to hire the church Custodian for their event.

Please call First Baptist Church at 607-273-5800 for further information or to discuss fees associated with use of our space.
